Baby Boat, Papa Boat

What a great weekend we've had!

Friday was exciting in that it was "family day" Just Matt and me. Perfect bliss. We drove to Portage, looked around the little quaint town, stopped at Best Buy, picked up Pocahantas (crossed it off my Disney list!), made dinner together, then fell asleep on the couch while cuddling and watching one of my Disney favorites.

Saturday was the first day that we TOGETHER went out on the boat(s) this year. Finally the winter is over. The sunshine is here. And the boats are in.

Our boat = Baby Boat - was already docked on the pier in front of Grandma's house off Rock River (Matt and Tom did that last weekend - See previous post). I watched as Matt and Tom worked diligently in getting Papa Boat in the water - so it could sit on the pier next to Baby Boat for the remainder of the Summer.

After - we went out on the lake with Matt's parents, aunt, and uncle - took some super duper fast turns, drank a few Angry Orchard ciders, and visited with family.

Another amazing day.

So peaceful.

Saturday night - we came home, quickly changed, and stuffed our faces with leftovers before a group of friends came over for "Poker Night"

I don't play poker. But I do drink.

And goodness, was it fun! Great Wine. Great Friends. Great conversation.

In fact - we caught ourselves sitting on living room floor at 3 AM with our friends having a very in depth conversation about our faith and God's plan for us.......... All after brandy, wine, beer, poker, and smoking our tobacco pipe.

Um.

Today - I sit here in on my back porch (on this gorgeous day with an absolute perfect breeze) after watering my flowers -- and now writing to you. My beloved blog readers.

My parents should be here any minute to visit. Yippee!!

Friends. Family. Husband.

How did I get so lucky?

Isn't he beautiful?

Another Bonus:
Grandma Holtz gave us a stack full of books older than Matt and I combined. Much of which - are on our book collection list. THANKS GRANDMA!

Happy June 1st!!!

Happy June 1st!

OUR BOAT IS OFFICIALLY ON THE WATER!!!!!!

Wooohooooo!!!!

Asshole Parents (our babies' birthday party)

You guys!

Matt and I are asshole cat parents.

Reason(s)?

Around the beginning of April, I realized that we BOTH forgot our BABY's birthday on March 20th. I capitalize BABY because that's exactly what Lulu is. The youngest. The princess. The baby of our household. That is, until the real baby comes along..... ((She's going to have a hell of a time giving up that role. Luckily -- she has quite awhile to keep her reign)).

Lulu turned the BIG FOUR on March 20th and [like asshole parents] we completely forgot-- and acted like it was any other normal day.
What the hell is wrong with us?! How could we do this?! AND this better not be a prediction of how we'll be with an actual human baby! Anyways - I immediately told Matt once I remembered, and he had the same "Oh Shit" feeling as I did.
"Quick! We have to fix this She knows!! She knows we forgot her birthday!"   Click here to see Lulu's birthday last year

So we came up with - what I like to call - a clutch idea and decided that "we meant to do this ALL along......."

"Yeah, Lulu, we remembered your birthday -- we just wanted to have a combined birthday party for you and Ernie this year...."  We were "those" kind of parents.

So, Matt and I decided that since Ernie's birthday is July 31st and Lulu's is March 20 -- we'll just celebrate the BOTH of them over Memorial day weekend and get them one, big, fun present.

I think Lulu was on to us. She knew we forgot.

If she didn't know it then -- She definitely knew it when we FORGOT - AGAIN -- TO CELEBRATE THE CLUTCH PARTY -- over Memorial Day Weekend.

Shit. WTF is wrong with us?!?!?

So, on Tuesday evening, in a desperate plea to regain Lulu's love and trust -- Matt and I rushed to Target after work to grab party supplies, birthday gifts, etc.

The end result [our clutch, clutch party] was A-MAZE-BALLS. I am so super duper happy we went all out -- and I can't imagine us ever NOT doing it again.

It was a blast. Matt and I laughed the entire time 1) because putting birthday hats on the cats was the funniest shit ever (Remember, we're horrible, cat parents!) and 2) we are TOTALLY crazy, cat people and we wouldn't have it any other way.  Who else would do this??? We're are such dorks and kids at heart. And I love my family.

Also -- that "one, big, fun" present turned into 2 small 5 dollar presents. One of which, was on clearance and the other -- the cats were terrified of. Again, horrible parents.

Enjoy the pictures, crazy cat people!
