The carpet before. You can easily see the shade difference. Yuck.
Matt and I made the decision to move the furniture and pull up the carpet ourselves. It was a cost difference of $350 and I'll bet almost anything that if you ask Matt now -- he'll say he would have happily paid it. Lets just say, we will never do this again. Moving wasn't so bad. Pulling up the carpet wasn't that hard. But the staples. The damn staples were bane of our existence.
Oh to be in our twenties and on a budget
I kept telling Matt -- as we pulled up a million staples -- that this would be the last time we'd ever have to do it. The next time we'd get carpet -- 300 dollars wouldn't matter ---- and if it did--- we'd at least have a kid to do it (<--- Oh people! We'd pay them, too -- Don't worry!!!) Matt was the grumpiest I'd see him in a long time. The poor man had off on Thursday and spent his entire day pulling up staples and carpet while I worked at Little Gym. Once I got back home, I helped him and realized very quickly why he was so grumpy. Five staples was nothing. Twenty staples wasn't even bad. But no joke, we pulled hundreds and thousands of staples. Eeek. My hands hurt; Matt's back hurt; And we were up late into the night because the installers were expected to arrive the next day around noon. Lets just say, we're blessed to have non labor extensive jobs. We'd never last.
Throughout the night, we carried on a great conversation with lots of laughs. I had a minor anxiety attack because our house was in shambles and it seriously felt as though we were hoarders. Just trying to get into our fridge was a process because all of our furniture [that originally was in our carpeted rooms] had been moved into the kitchen, dining room, or basement. We quickly realized how much stuff we had. All acquired in five years. Ai yi yi....
Beer helped Matt. Wine helped me.
Lulu, on the other hand, loved it.
She is hiding under the pillows (in the above picture)
I'm bothering her ^
She loves being in high places.
And she loves her toys.
Spoiled.
[[You may be wondering where Ernie was throughout this..... He was (of course) TERRIFIED and we didn't see him all day]]
Once we were done, we showered and moved into the basement, picked out a couple movies and crashed (waiting for our installers to arrive the next day..........................)
Pizza Hut Box --- Not Gluten Free ;-)
Of course they were late! But finally! Around 3:30pm on Friday, our installers arrived and started to put down the carpet. They were here working until around 9pm but the finished product was totally worth the wait. We're very happy and Ernie and Lulu love it, too. Enjoy the pictures.
We didn't go to bed until midnight because we stayed up to put everything back. But like I said earlier, we love the new carpet and we're so happy with the final product. No shoes in the house anymore!
Yes, we are those crazy people.
Like promised before, once I do a few more changes, I will post before and after pictures of our entire house! :)
