'Merica

It's been a lazy weekend.

First and foremost - I must say Happy Fourth of July!! Our holiday weekend was incredibly lax. No fireworks. No bonfires or parades. Just Matt and I - and visiting our wonderful parents.

Friday - we headed down to Rockford to visit our parents. We stopped at my Mom's and Dad's for breakfast and ended up at Papa and Mama Fennel's house in the evening. Lots of wine. Lots of food. Lots of laughs. It is overwhelmingly thoughtfully amazing when our parents go out of their way to feed us "vegan" while we visit. My mom made an entire vegan spread for breakfast- that my left my dad (who is recovering from knee surgery) left to thinking, "Uhm - what is this????" (staring at grilled watermelon, quinoa with red onion, and an apple and radish salad).

The food was fabulous - She tried to make a vegan cinnamon toast but didn't know what to use in place of the butter. Still turned out delicious and now she knows all about Vegan Earth Balance butter. She also got quite upset when the local grocery store didn't carry our beloved "vegenaise" and claimed that she will be calling the store manager to tell them they need a better selection for Vegans.

HOW CUTE IS THAT!!

Of course - she had wine for me at 10 AM. BEST - MOM - EVER. And my Dad and Matt watched the Cubs the entire time. They actually won!!!! AMAZING!

Once we got to the Fennel's, we set up the bag set outside and stared at it while we sat on the deck. We repeated over and over again how amazing it would be if they lived in Edgerton (THEY NEED TO RETIRE AND MOVE ASAP), promised we would move there soon, too, and bitched and complained about wishing how we could be on our boat instead.

Oh yeah - OUR BOAT IS OFF THE WATER. Rock river was estimated to be at 10.5 feet!!!!!!! #FLOODALERT

So my loving father in law and Uncle Stan rushed to Grandma's to take our boat off the pier (while Matt and I sat at American Family).

IS IT DONE RAINING YET?!?!?!

And the most shitty part -- the water level only got to 9.5. We could have TOTALLY been on the boat all weekend............. =(

Nonetheless -- after staring at the bag set for a couple hours and enjoying the Africa hot weather - we went back inside to the air conditioning to play some board games. OUR FAVORITE!!! Uno Flash (the best) and FARKLE!

A bottle of wine later.....................

We had taco salad! Totally vegan. Absolutely YUMMY. Like I said - it is so amazing and fabulous that our parents cater to our new picky eating lifestyle. We love you!

Five plates of Guacamole later....

We headed home. I fell asleep before we were even out of Matt's parents neighborhood.

Oh yeah -- APPARENTLY I have a sleeping disorder.......... which means I get to go a sleep study at the end of August. I guess I never go into REM sleep or something which pretty much means I toss and turn all night long. I sleep like shit. And I'm tired within fifteen minutes of waking up.

Even better - the anxiety meds that I'm on (spoiler alert --  I'm on anxiety meds) make my "supposed" sleeping disorder worse. Oh goody.........

Saturday - we laid in bed all day long from me waking up every hour ON the hour.  Sleeping disorder = incredibly annoying.

I also finished my first journal. Which I started writing exactly on July 3, 2013. Pretty incredible and very therapeutic. It will most likely be less than a week before I go out and buy a second.

Today --

Went to church for the first time AS MEMBERS

I checked four more books off of our collection list for less than ten dollars. YAY! I love Frugal Bookstore! Have I said that before? I think so. (I need to update our book collection list)

We've watched Tarzan and Hercules (Aren't we such big kids at heart??). MATT HAS NEVER SEEN THEM BEFORE!!! Wtf!?

PS: Meg, from Hercules, is a S-L-U-T

And I'm taking advantage of my new found love of box wine. #lush

Tonight - we will be watching the documentary "Waiting for Superman" which is apparently about how horrible the United States public school system is. Its supposed to be a good one. We love documentaries. And this will most likely make we want to homeschool our future children even more than I already do. Can you say hippy-rific?!

Leftovers for dinner. PS: Black Bean vegan burgers freeze and reheat AMAZING!

Also -- A month and a half until Matt's and my roadtrip to the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky!! Yippppee Skipppyy!!! www.kybourbontrail.com

Three weeks until Fennel Family Fun Day (aka: our reunion) where we will be discussing the family reunion trip off of a beach somewhere - next Summer. Oh, how I love travelling!!!!!!!!!!!!!
