It kills me to say that this year, more than any year EVER before, I am really struggling to get into the Christmas spirit. You're shocked, right?! I mean, ITS ME.
But not this year.
Matt and I LIVE for Christmas. We start listening to Christmas music in JULY. We start counting down the days in September, and can't even wait until Thanksgiving to pull out the decorations. We own nearly all the Christmas movies, and quote them on a daily basis. I make lists and lists, and over spoil Matt and our furbabies with tons of presents. I make a holiday ham (NOT VEGAN) and Christmas cookies. Send out holiday cards and go to the Christmas church service. But there is something about this year that I just CANT put my finger on.
Would it surprise all of you to know that Matt and I don't even have Christmas lights up on our new house?
I'm ashamed.
Who have we become!?!?
....It just doesn't feel like Christmas.
Maybe its the weather. Fog. Rain. NO SNOW?!?! Maybe its us being so busy. Or maybe its just plain ol' adulthood. I've turned into the grumpy Grinch....
All of our gifts are stacked in the guest room downstairs unwrapped. And worse! I don't even have wrapping paper! Or tape! Or bows! Or Nametags! I mean seriously! I'm just a no good cotton- headed ninnymuggins.
Last year, I was SO excited to buy an advent calendar. At the beginning of the season, I filled each day with two cat treats and two dog treats with the anticipation of giving all four furbabies a treat every morning in December. This picture was just taken today.
I never even started. Sigh.
It's like I'm Cindy Lou Who!! Where are you Christmas?!?!
Say it isn't so!
And mostly, I feel like a horrible puppy mom because I'm not going all out for our puppies' first Christmas.
I mean, just look at them. Pure misery.
Although, they've had zero issues getting into Christmas.
I can't wait to watch them unwrap their eleventy billion presents.
In other news, we are on a three week break for puppy classes. They resume on January 10th, which gives us plenty of time to work on loose leash walking and not jumping on people.
It's been a Christmas cuddles and napping kind of day::
But Lulu wants nothing to do with that nonsense.
I just love this. Josh Groban's voice. The real reason for the season. (I share it every year, so just act surprised!)
Along with listening to that, a 10 day work vacation, and our nieces coming over to Christmas cookies tonight -- I'm bound to be in the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!
Stay tuned for pictures.
