ByeBye Old School Blinds

I feel like its an unspoken thing that in order to have a real home/adult house, you cannot have vinyl mini blinds on your windows. I remember having them in my dorm room and in every apartment I've ever rented. When we bought our house, they came with it and we lived with it until now. But even while looking through the house, I knew I'd eventually change them. Well, for those of you who don't know me very well - let me just say that I am a very impatient woman. Matt will attest to the fact that when I want something, I want it NOW and I feel as though I have waited long enough to switch them out. We bought the house in December '11 and....

Yep, it is time.

Last week, I started the unofficial mission of changing out our window treatments and I am determined to complete this mission as soon as possible. I started with the room that I thought needed it the most -- Our Dining Room.

Our dining room or dining area has a huge window that looks to our back yard. Behind our condo, there is a pond with a little creek and lots of mature, pretty trees. Before, we never really messed with our mini blinds enough to open them, get all the natural light into our house, and see our pretty view (which is why I thought this room should be first).

(This is our view from the window with a frozen pond)

Ugh! When is Spring going to be here??

Another reason-

Matt's Aunt Karen and Uncle Kelly got us an unbelievable wedding gift that I want to be able to see as much as possible. Karen knows an artist who makes stained glasses pieces with glass from Jerusalem and sells them to super duper rich folks. Well, because Karen and this woman are amazing, they came up with the idea to make a custom piece for Matt's and my house. Karen called me way before the wedding and asked for our window dimensions and what colors we would like in the piece. I couldn't have imagined how beautiful it turned out and it is a gift we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Matt and I were so excited to hang it (even with our old, yucky blinds)

Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed. His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3: 22-23

Created just for you...

We couldn't wait to see it in the morning with the sunlight. How could you not want to see that every morning while sipping coffee?

So after hanging the stained glass, I was determined to find pretty new curtains that I could open in the morning and have a big, beautiful window to look out every morning. I searched high and low and found some gorgeous "faux silk" floor length purple curtains from the classy, high end Target. (SAY IT WITH A FRENCH ACCENT and don't judge!)

Even being from Target, Matt could not believe how much I spent on curtains for the dining room, but I think it made a world of a difference.

And I love my morning sunshine view.

The pretty purple color is named "wine"

Perfect.

Our family room patio door blinds are next to go. I'm thinking 2" faux wood blinds.... (Target has those, too!) Yay!
