We got a new "fancy" camera recently and I wanted to practice with it. I had only shot with a point and shoot camera or cell phone before, so I was totally lost and confused. Well of course in the dead of winter and at 9pm at night, I didn't really have much to practice on except Matt or our two cats. Matt got annoyed after two pictures so I moved onto Ernie and Lulu. I used the auto setting on my Sony a580 and played around with my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. In our opinions, the pictures turned out pretty well. Although we are a little biased. We had absolutely adorable models.
Before I go on any further, I don't want anyone thinking of me like this...
Because I'm not. I simply love my family -- and my family includes Ernie and Lulu.
I've heard all the negative opinions about cats: they smell, they puke, they shed, they pee everywhere around the house, they're unfriendly, etc. And quite honestly, Matt and I both thought the same thing until we adopted Ernie. At the time, we wanted a dog, but because of apartment living we were unable to get a puppy so we settled on rescuing a cat. Its one of the best decisions we've ever made.
They are simply like no other cat. The negatives of any cat I've ever heard does not apply to these two. They don't smell. They don't pee around the house. They don't puke on my carpet and they are two of the most loving animals I've ever met.Ernie is our black and white "fatboy". We rescued him from PAWS adoption agency (about 8 pounds lighter) in February 2010. His previous family couldn't keep him and he "suffered" in the shelter for an entire 24 hours before I walked in. Ernie will love on anyone. He greets everyone at the door and will follow you around the entire house. His favorite snack is Wheat thins and he is the best cuddler around. He will come running from across the house if you call his name and sometimes licks you on the hand as a sign of affection.
He is most entertaining when I vacuum, when its storming, or when a leaf blows in his direction. He is terrified of his own shadow and its hilarious to watch. Poor little fatboy...
He is very easy going and will sleep/lay with you however you want to hold him (He prefers little spoon the most though). He is definitely a Mama's boy and is very, very spoiled. Ernie became a "Fennel" at one and a half and will be five in July. He will never have to worry about being in a shelter again.
Don't mistake her though. She thrives off of attention and loves being around her family. She cannot stand to be in another room besides the room Matt and I are in (even if she lays on the opposite side of the couch). At night, she'll give in and cuddle with us under the blanket and in the mornings she meow a soundless meow that almost makes you think she's is suffering (but its only because she knows we're headed to work). She is the most vocal cat I've ever seen and will meow if you talk to her. She also plays fetch. You can throw her toy and she will go get it and bring it back.... awesome right? She is definitely "Daddy's girl" and it has proved to me that Matt is in deep shit if we ever have a human little girl... Lord, help him-- and our bank account.........
Lulu was a tiny, little baby when she became a "Fennel" and she will three at the end of the month. She will never need to worry about having a life as an alley cat (even though I know she'd survive--- This little missy is very street smart)
And we pust pay our respects.......
Ernie was named after Ernie Banks. The Cubs hall of famer known as Mr. Cub. (#14)
Lulu was named after Lou Piniella. The very moody and former Cubs manager. (#41)
Fits her well........................
So yes, admittedly, I am a crazy cat lady, but only to these two. Matt and I have agreed that we will never have another cat. These two are irreplaceable. Adopting them took us from a couple to a family. Our future children will grow up with and love them as familly. We could never imagine our home without them... after all, it'd be much less entertaining. We love you #14 and #41
